The Jersey City Fire Officers Association, IAFF Local 1064 and the Uniformed Fire Fighters Association of Jersey City, IAFF Local 1066 are the Unions that protect the men and women of the Jersey City Fire Department who have committed their careers to serving and protecting the residents and visitors of Jersey City.

The Jersey City Fire Department became a paid department on June 6, 1871. The career firefighters realized the need to protect their jobs, increase wages and ensure the department provided adequate equipment.
